
Heythrop offers the two research degrees of the University of London, Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), in the broad areas of Philosophy and Theology, which includes Pastoral Studies and Psychology of Religion.
We also offer a Doctorate in Ministry (DMin), a specialised course of study leading to a professional doctorate in theology and ministry.
Why study at Heythrop for a research degree?
Heythrop is a friendly, focused environment in which to conduct research. Its small size (35 research degree supervisors and 40 students across three departments) enables staff to be generous with time and one-to-one support. In this the College is unique in the modern day, and students have expressed particular satisfaction with the standard of supervision. Heythrop is home to the prestigious Heythrop Journal and has on campus some of the finest specialist libraries in Philosophy and Theology in the UK. As Heythrop is an affiliated college of the University of London its students have full access to Senate House Library, and to an extended research community, with with regular opportunities to hear and engage with world-famous academics across a variety of colleges in London.
Heythrop College is set in lovely, tranquil surroundings and has a vibrant research community of its own offering a variety of events all year round.
