This innovative Masters degree is aimed specifically at students who wish to go on to do research at PhD level on some aspect of philosophy, and the application process will ask you to comment on this intention.
It provides a foundation for further research in philosophy with opportunities to consider a range of philosophical topics alongside explicit and detailed training in the skills necessary for philosophical research.
What could I go on to do?
The MRes in Philosophy is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to undertake a research degree, either at Heythrop or elsewhere. If your intentions change however, achieving a Masters degree in Philosophy demonstrates to your employer your capacity to analyze and communicate complex issues: it is thus a highly transferable postgraduate qualification.
