MA Canon Law

How will I learn?

Each module is taught by a two-hour evening session – interactive with students -once a week over an 11-week term. Some modules make use of case studies and role play.  Directed reading and other tasks guide independent learning. Additionally, you will have regular tutorials, normally on a one-to-one basis, to discuss work completed or in progress, and meetings with a supervisor in relation to the dissertation.

How much time will it take?

You will need to attend for classes for two hours a week for each module you take, making 22 hours for each module. The major time commitment is the reading and preparation which you do in advance of classes, following them up, and preparing for your assignments and tutorials. The weekly class for each module is the only fixed time commitment, but you need to schedule other work so that you are able to make the most of the classes, and meet assessment deadlines.

How will I be assessed?

The assessment for each module is by coursework and a 4,000 word essay. 12,000-15,000 word dissertation is also required.
