Theological Action Research

Theological Action Research

The ARCS project has developed a process of working with organisations called Theological Action Research (TAR):

‘Theological action research is a partnership between an insider and an outsider team to undertake research and conversations answering theological questions about faithful practice in order to renew both theology and practice in the service of God’s mission’.

TAR can be understood as: A Partnership; a Process; and a Theological Conversation

Drawing on, and adapting the pastoral cycle and action research methods, this process enables researchers with practitioners to access ‘implicit’ theologies embedded within practices.
