Since the middle of the 1990s there has been a slow but steady trickle of people completing doctoral level research into various aspects of Catholic education. There is now an emerging research community focused on the field of Catholic education and Catholic schools in the UK and in Ireland.
In order to support this emerging research community some of the leading voices in this field have been collaborating in order to start forming a network and embryonic association between these researchers working in Catholic Education.
A key focus for this network will be to support and nurture researchers who work in the field of Catholic education. This network of researchers will complement and work in association with the CRDCE (developed by Professor Grace) and other groupings involved in Catholic education.
The Network for Researchers in Catholic Education was formally launched during a two-day conference devoted to New Thinking About Catholic Education, in September 2016 at Heythrop College.
