This interactive, interdisciplinary module is designed to explore ethical issues related to the humanity’s impact on the physical environment. With the UN summit in New York on sustainable development goals in September 2015 in addition to the inter-governmental meeting in Paris in December 2015 that will seek to establish binding climate change protocols, environment and sustainability will be on the agenda of policy-makers at the international and local levels. Pope Francis’ forthcoming encyclical on the environment will also stimulate discussion about the ethical and religious dimensions of climate change and sustainability. This new and timely module will offer a framework for thinking about these issues.

This a module is taught over four consecutive-Saturdays as a stand-alone unit, with or without assesment, or as an optional module for the MA Contemporary Ethics programme.
