Joyce Rupp Study Day - The Unknown as a Doorway to Spiritual Growth
The Unknown as a Doorway to Spiritual GrowthDownload iCal Event
Location: Heythrop College, Kensington Square, London W8 5HN
A Religious Life Institute Study Day with Sister Joyce Rupp
When someone desires to grow spiritually there is almost always some tension between what is to be held onto firmly and what is to be yielded and let go. Yearning for security and certainty is a natural response to the continual changes that life brings. However, spiritual growth will not occur unless one is willing to befriend the unknown, detach from what binds too tightly, and stay open to possibility. All major religions teach that those who wish to discover deeper meaning and a stronger relationship with the Holy One will inevitably face the relinquishment of whatever holds the self back from growth. Joyce Rupp will address these components and other aspects of spiritual transformation.
Joyce Rupp, international conference speaker and retreat director, describes herself as a "spiritual mid-wife." She is the author of almost two dozen best selling books, including her most recent: My Soul Feels Lean: Poems of Loss and Restoration. Joyce is a co-director of The Institute of Compassionate Presence and teaches conferences on the topic of compassion. She is a member of the Servants of Mary community in Des Moines, Iowa, USA.
