To foster our religious community at Heythrop we offer a number of different services and prayer meetings that all are welcome to attend.
- Daily Eucharist
- College Weekly Eucharist
- Advent, Lent and Easter/Pentecost Services
- Ecumenical Prayer
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdsays and Fridays, 13:30
A daily celebration of the Eucharist takes place in the Maria Assumpta Chapel during term (except Reading Weeks). Ordained members of the Chaplaincy as well as the Academic Staff take turns presiding. The Eucharist is celebrated according to the Roman Catholic Rite, however members of other Christian communities are most welcome to join us in prayer.
The weekly Eucharist celebration is more solemn and is attended by the whole college community. This takes place in the Maria Assumpta Chapel during term (except Reading Weeks). Ordained members of the Chaplaincy as well as the Academic Staff take turns in presiding. Special guests are invited to preside occasionally. The Eucharist is celebrated according the Roman Catholic Rite, however members of other Christian communities are most welcome to join us in prayer.
See Chaplaincy newsletters for dates and times
The Heythrop community gathers for special moments of prayer during the seasons of Advent, Lent and Easter. These occur normally once every term. The Heythrop Schola Cantorum leads the music and the singing.
Mondays 16:45 - 17:15
To foster and support Heythrop's Christian community regardless of denomination, the Ecumenical Team, lead by Mrs Joan Conway, hosts weekly Ecumenical Prayer in the Student Recreation Room, located in the basement of the main building. The prayer is led in turns by members of the team as well as other attendees.
The leaders of the prayers aim to bring in the richness of their own prayer tradition making it an occasion for mutual enrichment among Christians of various denominations. The essential ingredients are the Word of God and silence. The purpose is to pray for and on behalf of the whole Heythrop Community. All are sincerely welcome.
As this is a new area of chaplaincy work, Joan and the Champlaincy Team are eager to hear your suggestions on how to improve the service. If you wish to be a part of the team, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
