We are of course convinced of the value to the individual and to society of the study of Philosophy and Theology. Certainly, these disciplines enable us to develop powers of creative and critical thinking so much needed in Britain today. More significantly, they represent the two principal contexts in which over the centuries we have pursued those questions of meaning, purpose and fundamental values which fascinate us all and which we ignore at our peril.

Meaning and purpose are transmitted through communities of experience and reflection. Heythrop is one such community. Our students come to Heythrop from all kinds of perspectives and background and they find here a context in which their views are respected and they can work out what they think. As you will see, we offer a wide range of courses at undergraduate and post graduate levels each of which will enable you to deepen your understanding of these two intellectually stimulating areas of study.
