Terms of Reference

1. Staff Student Liaison Committees (SSLCs) will provide a forum for the identification and discussion of issues relevant to undergraduate students. Taught postgraduate students and research students will have other arrangements, including electronic consultations, to enable them to raise views with staff.

2. One SSLC will be held each term

3. The Chair of the Undergraduate Students SSLC will be the Dean of Undergraduate Studies

4. The Principal, the Director of Learning and Teaching, the President of the HSU or nominee, and the QARC will be ex officio members of each SSLC. Other members of staff may attend on request

5. There will be six student members of each SSLC, nominated by the student group

6. Where more than six nominations are received elections will be held in consultation with the HCSU

7. Student members should canvass the student group for issues prior to each meeting and should feed back on discussion to each student group, using electronic and hard copy information

8. A notice board will be provided for SSLC business and student members will be able to use electronic communications to contact their student group

9. Information on the role of the SSLC will be provided in the Student Handbook.
