Reports to

Terms of Reference   

1.      To advise the Principal and the Academic Board on the development, implementation and updating of the College’s strategies for research.

2.      To develop and put into practice systems for monitoring progress in relation to agreed research strategies, and to report annually to the Academic Board.

3.      To promote research activities (especially conferences and seminars) within the College, and in conjunction with other centres of research, nationally and internationally.

4.      To advise the Principal on measures to support individual researchers or research groups within the College.

5.      The Committee will ensure, in respect of the areas of College life falling within its remit, that unlawful discrimination on grounds of age, disability, gender re-assignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and belief (including lack of belief), sex, or sexual orientation, does not occur. It will ensure this by:

a)   monitoring appropriate data sets at suitable intervals, and

b)  explicitly considering the impact on equality issues of any new actions, policies or procedures which it initiates or approves.
