Purpose
Reporting to the Learning and Teaching Committee, to have oversight of the College’s responsibilities, under its agreement with the University, as Lead College for the BD and Diploma in Theology in the University of London External System.

Terms of Reference
1. To review issues relating to the design, coherence and standard of the degree, including its alignment with the English academic infrastructure and its compatibility with equivalent attendance mode programmes at the College, and make recommendations to the Academic Board, through the Academic Standards Committee, concerning the scope and structure of the programmes.
2. To request or review proposals for the modification of existing units and the introduction of new units for the degree/diploma.
3. To consider the annual programme monitoring report jointly prepared by the Programme Director and relevant Senate House staff, to agree actions for improvement which are within the powers of the Lead College and to where relevant to make recommendations for consideration by the External System Academic Board.
4. To delegate relevant academic staff to prepare for periodic programme review, in association with the External and Internal System Administration (EISA) at Senate House.
5. To conduct an annual review of existing subject guides, in consultation with relevant examiners, and decide priorities for revision.
6. Subject to available resource, to approve the appointment new subject guide authors and consider reports on their work.
7. To give initial consideration to possible external partners for the programmes in line with College and University quality assurance requirements and in the context of the UK Academic Infrastructure requirements for collaborative provision.
8. To consider nominations for appointment of External Examiners for the BD and Diploma in the External System, and make recommendations to the Academic Board.
9. Having regard to the recommendations of Internal and External Examiners, and to practice for equivalent attendance-mode programmes, to propose to the Academic Board revisions to the assessment regulations and criteria for the BD and Diploma in the external system, or to the programme-specific entry requirements.
10. To consider reports from External Examiners and recommendations made by the annual meeting of internal examiners in response to these.
