Reserving books you are using in the Library
If you are working on a book in the Library and wish to reserve it you will find slips marked “Reserved” in the reading areas. Enter your name and the date on the slip and insert it into the book.. Books may only be reserved for one day, after which they will be reshelved.
Inter-Library loans
If you need a book or an article not in the Heythrop Library and you are a Heythrop student or member of staff, these can be obtained through an Inter-Library loan. This service, which is administered by the British Library, can take several weeks. Please contact Vicky Rowley if you need to use this service.
Students of other institutions should contact their public library or their own college library for inter-library loans.
Photocopying
There are photocopiers and printers in each library operated using printing credit on College ID cards. Those from outside the College wishing to use the photocopiers should ask at the issue desk. Copying is charged at 5p per copy.
Please remember that you are responsible for ensuring that any copying which you do does not infringe copyright. You may copy only under one of the following conditions:-
1. For private study or research, as long as it is not for a commercial purpose:- -
- One article from any issue of a journal or periodical.
- One chapter or up to 5% of any published work.
2. You are copying under the terms of a the College’s CLA licence (this allows multiple copying of some works for class use).
3. You have the permission of the copyright holder.
Making suggestions
On the catalogue terminals, at the main menu choose I (for Library Information) then either A ADDITIONAL items the Library should acquire or S SUGGESTIONS for other comments. Suggestions can also be made using the web site via the catalogue page or using the books to be found in each library.
- Blue book - general suggestions
- Black book - suggestions of books for the Library to purchase
- Red book - report of books missing from the shelves but shown as NOT ON LOAN on the catalogue, alternatively, simply e-mail the Librarian
