
Access to the Library
Heythrop is a member of the University of London Acess Agreement.
The information below outlines who can use the Heythrop Library, how to gain access and the level of access provided.
If you wish to join the Library please bring a passport size photograph to the Philosophy Library Issue desk. You will be asked to complete and application form.
Alumni of the College
All alumni of the College have reference access to the Library. For a fee of £50 per year alumni may borrow from the Library. In order to apply please download the form. See "Using the Library" for further details.
Colleges of the University of London
Staff, research students and students doing modules which are taught at Heythop may borrow. Other University of London students may use the Library for reference.
SCONUL Access/M25 Access Scheme card holders
Holders of SCONUL Access borrowers cards and M25 Cards may both use the Library for reference and borrowing. To join the Library please bring your SCONUL Access/M25 card, home institution library card and a passport size photograph to the Philosophy Library issue desk. You will be asked to complete an application form. At particularly busy times there may be a delay in issuing you with your Heythrop Library card.
Other Universities
Staff and students from other universities should check with their home library about the SCONUL Access or M25 Access Schemes. If your home institution is not a member of these schemes see Other Users below.
Open University
Open University staff and students are treated in the same way as students of other Universities.
Other users
Staff and students of UK and overseas universities may have regular reference access to the Library for £45 a year, £30 a term, or £5 a week. Other users may have regular reference access to the Library for £45 for one year.
Please note that access to the Library is provided at the discretion of the Librarian. Those joining the Library do so on the understanding that membership may be suspended or withdrawn, if Library regulations are broken, books are not returned or money is owed.
Users with special needs
Users with special needs wishing to visit the library are advised to contact the Librarian in advance. Ramps and wheelchair lifts have been installed in the library buildings, enabling access to most of the library for mobility-impaired users but advance notice would be appreciated.
