Biography

After several years of working in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors, Catherine Cowley joined the Congregation of the Religious of the Assumption www.assumptionreligious.org. She studied theology at the Gregorian University, Rome. Following some years in pastoral ministry she obtained a Masters degree in Philosophy and Religion and then a Doctorate at Heythrop College. Her thesis was entitled “The Application of Catholic Social Teaching to Business Ethics with particular reference to the Finance Sector”.

She is Assistant Director for the Heythrop Institute for Religion, Ethics and Public Life and Secretary to the Association of Teachers of Moral Theology.

Current teaching

She teaches various aspects of Christian Ethics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is Degree Convenor for the MA in Christian Ethics.
